Horse lovers in Guanacaste. by Elizabeth https://cerrograndeestates.com/2018/02/23/the-equestrian-life-in-costa-rica-horse-lovers-in-guanacaste/#comment-1082 Wed, 13 Jan 2021 12:36:43 +0000 http://cerrograndeestates.com/?p=1012#comment-1082 Hi ,
My husband and I are seriously considering buying a modest place in Guanacaste in a couple of years, first to use as a summer home for a few years and then to retire to. We will be visiting Guanacaste (we hope) next summer, if Covid is under control, to check out the area. We had planned to last summer but Covid prevented that. I have been to Costa Rica before, but not Guanacaste.
I have never had a horse but I do ride and it has been a lifelong dream.
I am wondering if you can help answer some questions for me about keeping horses in Costa Rica or if you can direct me to someone who can?
Here are my questions:
Is it really only like $100 to board a horse there? Does that include feed and other basic care? How much does it cost per month to feed a horse there? Are horse vets expensive? What kind of costs could I expect on average per month if boarding the horse? And if keeping a horse on land we buy?
Thanks so much.
Happy New Year.
